Should you take breaks between patch applications? We'll tell you everything.
Do you love wearing your THE CARE GEL nail patches week after week? Good news: unlike traditional or semi-permanent polishes, our patches do not weaken your nails.
But do you need to take breaks between applications? And if so, when and how? We explain everything in this article.
Semi-permanent polish: a mandatory break
Classic semi-permanent polish requires:
-
Nail filing
-
Repeated exposure to strong UV rays
-
Removal with acetone, often aggressive
These methods dry out the nail surface and make it brittle, ridged, and even painful in the long run.
In this case, yes, breaks are essential to allow the nail to regenerate.
With THE CARE GEL: no mandatory break
Our nail patches are:
-
No prior filing
-
No aggressive chemicals
-
No acetone for removal
-
Easy to gently remove with a nourishing oil
Result: the nail is not damaged, does not thin, and remains healthy even with continuous use.
✅ You can apply several sets consecutively without risk.
When can a break still be beneficial?
Even though our patches are clean, it can be useful to leave your nails bare in certain cases:
-
If your nails are damaged by a previous treatment (gels, artificial nails…)
-
If you want to apply a strengthening treatment
-
If your nails are peeling or need a moment of “aesthetic rest”
In this case: leave your nails bare for 2–3 days between applications and apply an oil or a strengthening serum.
The right rhythm for consecutive applications
-
✅ One application = 10 to 14 days of wear
-
✅ As soon as your patches start to lift, gently remove them with a little oil
-
✅ Leave your nails clean for a few hours, then apply a new shade!
