Patch peeling off? Our quick tips to save it
You've carefully applied your THE CARE GEL patches, but one of them is starting to peel off a little too soon? Don't panic. This small issue can sometimes happen – especially if the nail wasn't properly prepared or exposed to water too early.
Here are our quick tips to fix or prevent peeling, without having to start all over again.
1. Why might a patch peel off too soon?
The main causes are:
-
An improperly degreased nail surface before application
-
Applying the patch too close to the cuticles
-
Contact with water or oils in the first few hours after application
-
A wrong patch size choice
💡 Don't worry: a small touch-up is often enough to extend the wear!
2. What to do if a corner of a patch lifts
Option 1: re-adhere immediately
-
Press firmly with your finger for 10 seconds
-
Cure again for 30 seconds under the UV lamp
-
You can also apply a very thin drop of clear top coat to the affected area before curing again
Option 2: remove and replace the patch only
-
If the patch is too peeled, gently remove it
-
Take a patch of the same size (or smaller)
-
Clean the nail with a dry cotton pad, then reapply normally

3. How to prevent this from happening again
Before application:
-
Thoroughly degrease the nail with a dry cotton pad or alcohol wipe
-
Do not touch the adhesive base with your fingers
-
Leave 1 mm of space between the patch and the cuticle
-
Choose a patch slightly smaller than your nail, never too large
After application:
-
Avoid hot water for the first 3 hours
-
Do not apply oils or creams immediately after
-
Always cure for at least 60 seconds

A patch that peels off is not a catastrophe. With a few good habits, you can:
